How it works
1. Lingofriends is a free of charge service. A network for language interested people all around the world.
2. Create your own profile – and find a Lingofriend. For you who would like to learn or teach a language – or maybe both
3. Use the communication tools. Go ahead and chat, e-mail, talk or why not meet in real life?

Initial Contact
Find a person that got your attention by searching in our database. Send the member a message in your native language and tell him that you are interested.
Confirmed contact
If your first message got a positive answer, proceed by sending a more extensive message.
Write something about yourself, what you do, where you live, etc. Mention what you are hoping to get out of your partnership and how much time you can and want to invest (once a week, more often, less often ...).
If you want to work together by IM, by telephone or other media, give your partner the necessary technical information (your IM address, telephone number, address), let him know when you can be reached, etc.
Important
Write at least half of every message in your native language!
Your Lingofriend learns from this - and you learn from what he writes in his language. This way your exchanges will be even more fun: in your native language you can both express more interesting topics in a more complex way, thereby keeping your correspondence at a higher level.
If you are a beginner, you can start out by writing everything in your native language and then gradually move into the foreign language - but never more than 50%. The same of course also applies to oral tandem: half of your time for each language.
If your Lingofriend doesn't answer ...
... then don't wait longer than a week before you request a new Lingofriend.
Changing partners ...
Working with several Lingofriends is of course allowed – we recommend you to focus on a few members, having too many can cause problems.
